First Day of First Grade for my First Child

Today is Lil Miss' first day of first grade. She was so super excited, she woke up at 10 til 7 a.m. She didn't sleep well last night either. She was sleep-walking all over the place. She couldn't stop talking from the moment she woke up. She did her hair and got herself ready (this is omg wow! since last year i had to tell her to do something 1000 times).

I have been teary-eyed all day. First grade seems stranger than kindergarten. Dropping off at first grade seems almost harder than dropping the kid off for the first time at school. She seemed so much older this morning. And first grade means spelling tests every Friday! And math homework every night! But she's still just a baby right? sigh.

Then there was the whole thing of her not wanting us to walk into her class with her. That was not helpful to mama's feelings. What's worse, I could tell she was kind of a little bit scared. But she was being brave and I am proud of her for that.

Wow. First grade. My baby.

I am so excited for her to come home today. I'm dying to know how it went and what she thinks. I have an hour and a half to go.....
