He had a banana and a glass of water ready for me. We woke the children and got ready for the Turkey Trot, or My First Ever 5K. As we were getting ready I kept hearing the trees bang against the house and realized the wind was blowing pretty hard. And it was cold. Cold and Windy are not my favorite. My friend, Amber, picked me up and we headed over to meet the other Cupcakes and do pictures, etc.
Finally, 8:55 a.m. came and it was time to run. 50 minutes later, I crossed the finish line.
After the race, my husband and children gave me a bouquet of flowers. Their support was so uplifting and wonderful. My friend, Jess even braved the cold and the wind to come and cheer me on. I am so grateful for that support and for the support of the Cupcake Runners. They were there every step of the way, cheering and clapping and encouraging and telling me, even when I felt I couldn't take another step that I could do it. And I did it because of that. Because they made me believe in myself. It's just another moment I can feel thankful. There is also my friend Amber, who was there during the week encouraging me to go on even when I was sick, even when I was tired. Amber also gave me the opportunity to support her and cheer her on. I'm glad I got to experience this with her.
