Sense and Sensi-WHAT?! Part 3

As of right now, I am 49 pages away from my soul being saved. This is very exciting stuff!

Marianne shall live. Her mother is there and is, of course, relieved. And knows of Colonel Brandon's love for Marianne. So now, Mrs. Dashwood is all talk of their marriage.

Poor Elinor. Mrs. Dashwood has forgotten all about Edward's engagement to Lucy and that Elinor may be just as heartbroken as Marianne.

"There was always a something, if you remember, in Willoughby's eyes at time, which I did not like."

hahahahaha That was in the movie.

Poor Elinor! here was a new scheme for getting her to Delaford! but her spirit was stubborn.

Ah, yes. Delaford. Where Colonel Brandon lived. And also, where Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ferrars would be settled in a parsonage, offered to them by Colonel Brandon. As if Elinor wanted to see those two living happily ever after!

Y'all, I'm getting a bit worried here. Less than 50 pages and how is Elinor going to end up with Edward and Marianne with Colonel Brandon? I really hope the book ends the way the movie did. Or at least for Elinor to fall in love with someone. I feel really bad for Elinor. (And I must admit, I thought for a second Colonel Brandon would actually end up with Elinor in the book.)

Oh.crap. Edward is married to Lucy. What the fuck, you guys?! Just kidding. Edward is engaged to Elinor! Huzzah! His mother accepts him as her son again. And even grants him permission to marry Elinor. Whoa.

Edward and Elinor are married in early autumn. How sweet. Mrs. Ferrars is still a bitch. I still hate Lucy, though I think she is very clever and not as dumb as I thought before.

:and that Marianne found her own happiness in forming his,was equally the persuasion and delight of each observing friend. Marianne could never love by halves; and her whole heart became,in time, as much devoted to her husband, as it had once been to Willoughby.

Did you hear that? Yeah, that was me melting. Melting. siiiigggghhh So Marianne and Colonel Brandon do marry. siiiiiggghhhh I'm so happy for Colonel Brandon. He waited so long to be loved by her. siiiiggghhh Sorry.

Marianne and Elinor live happily.
;and among the merits and the  happiness of Elinor and Marianne, let it not be ranked as the least considerable, that though sisters, and living almost in sight of each other, they could live without disagreements between themselves, or producing coolness between their husbands. The end.

My soul is saved! And as much as I struggled with this particular Austen I have to say I kind of loved it. At least the latter half of it. Anyway. I'm so excited to have finished it. I'll probably sit and think on it for a few days. And will probably read it again. But HUZZAH!! I finished!

  1. Maybe I'll try again. The trouble with the latter half being good is I don't always make it. I've heard that you can subtract your age from 100 and that's how many pages you have to read into a book before bailing out. It's getting to where that's not that many pages.

  2. Just keep telling yourself "it'll get better." I really wanted to make sure Marianne and Col. Brandon got together, so that helped. Of course, now you know. So....

I'm on Northanger Abbey now. Only Chapter 3, but I like it so far. It seems very satirical.

    Thanks for commenting!
