Yesterday morning (yes, morning), another mother and I went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. This is exciting because:
1) I was actually going to a movie theater to see a movie and
2) I was actually going to a movie theater to see the latest Harry Potter and
3) I was actually going somewhere without my kids!
So I get in her yellow car, but not without Little Man trying to climb in the backseat in his pull-ups and cowboy boots. It was really cute. The drive to the theater was fun. We chatted and laughed about how our husbands don't enjoy the same movies we do and they are annoying and oh! isn't this fun to be going to a movie! We also discussed in all seriousness our addictions to the Harry Potter series. Also, we discussed our embarrassing addiction to the Twilight Series. One is more acceptable than the other.
Okay, okay. So we get to the theater in which I sneak in some M&M's and Reese's Pieces (I hadn't had those since I was a kid. omg! they are soooooo good). We watch the previews. I am very excited about the Sherlock Holmes movie that will be coming out (Hello Robert Downey Jr. I love you even with all your cocaine problems. Hello Jude Law, I will be your nanny.). Also, also, they have turned Where the Wild Things Are into a movie and it looks amazing. No, really, I had tears in my eyes. I absolutely cannot wait! Although I am afraid it gives our kids one more reason not to read. But that's another subject for another day.
So the movie. First, they bring the original soundtrack back. It was the first thing I noticed. HOORAY!!! It's Harry Potter again! Okay, I just learned David Yates did direct Order of the Phoenix and I am just stupid to repeat what I was told without researching it myself! Oops!
Well, I don't want to give too much away. If you've read the books then you know the story. There were a lot of laughs in this one. A bit of "snogging." And then some tears. I haven't read the books in about 2 years and I considered reading Half Blood Prince again before seeing the movie. I decided not to. I was afraid it would taint my view on the movie. I cannot wait until this movie is out on DVD. I am so excited for Deathly Hallows Part I and II.
The Half Blood Prince totally rocked it, in my opinion. I absolutely loved it! There were things left out and redone and changed as always is the case when you turn a book into a movie. But all in all, it was really good. Totally rocked.
Oh man, I can't wait to see this movie! I absolutely LOVE the last two books in the series, and I am stoked that the seventh book will be made into two movies. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun outing! I too can't wait to see Where the Wild Things Are.
