Camp Wannahawkaloogie

After the week from hell, we had some highlights. We drove Lil Miss Morgan to camp. (That part sucked a little because Lil Man was so sick.)

She was really excited to get checked in, but she was kind of nervous too. Check in went really fast and before I knew it, I was leaving her in the care of her counselors at a camp almost a hundred miles from home on top of a mountain. I didn't cry in front of her, but let's just say the sunglasses masked the tears and thank goodness for that. At this point, I realized I hadn't packed her inhaler like I thought I had. A moment of panic and then the realization that she hasn't needed it in a year helped calm me. And I climbed back in the car to my sick little boy and we drove home.

She was gone for 3 nights, 4 days. Now, I don't want to make it sound like I didn't miss her or think about her or worry for her because I did. But it was probably good she was gone while her brother was sick. It probably kept her from getting it and also, it helped me not obsess over her.

As soon as we got into camp to fetch Morgan, she squeezed me so tight. She didn't want to let me go it seemed and for a second, I thought maybe she had a very bad time and would hatemeforeverformakinghergo. Which I didn't make her go, I let her help in this decision. But as soon as she stepped back she just smiled big smiles and said "I LOVED CAMP!!!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!" I was so proud of her and happy for her.

She's always been my independent one. She's always ready for new things. She's always brave enough to venture away from me to discover her world. This makes me proud and sad at the same time.

Jackson really missed his Sissy a lot. He was so excited to see her!

Anyway, Lil Man was feeling better and we decided we were gonna spend some time up there. I mean, we drove all that way, we might as well enjoy ourselves, right?! And we did! Prescott is so beautiful.
Goldwater Lake

See? The whole family! It was humid as balls right then though.

Jackson took this picture.
(Right after this, some teenagers got on the swings and we were leaving. As we passed, the boy said "It's so friggin' humid, my balls are sticking to my leg." It was very hard not to laugh where he would hear me.)

Jackson wasn't thrilled to see some more nature.
